The local government unit of Sto. Tomas received on January 22 a P2-million Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) cash incentive from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The incentive was given to the town for passing the 2017 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) along with the 12 municipalities in the province.
It was the first time for Sto. Tomas to receive the SGLG award.
The P2-million PCF was handed by DILG Provincial Director Mryvi Apostol-Fabia to Mayor Johnny A. Sambo.
The SGLG award is conferred to local government units (LGUs) that adhere to performance criteria on any of the following areas: good financial housekeeping (GFH), disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public sector and tourism, culture and arts.
Fabia congratulated Sto. Tomas and challenged its officials to surpass their feat in this year’s SGLG.
Sambo said the P2-million cash inventive will be utilized for various infrastructure and social services in the municipality. (PR)
