Carmona receives P5M for “Gawad Pamana ng Lahi” awardMarch 8, 2013

CARMONA, Cavite, March 8 (PIA) --The local government has received P5 million worth of Performance Challenge Fund from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) after being adjudged as the 2012 Regional and National Winner of the prestigious “Gawad Pamana ng Lahi” – Municipal level.

The PCF is “an incentive fund to local government units in the form of counterpart funding to high-impact capital investment projects in the Annual Investment Program (AIP) and funded out of the 20 percent Local Development Fund consistent with national goals and priorities. It shall seek to rationalize national government intergovernmental transfers to LGUs, and encourage alignment of local development initiatives with national government development agenda and priorities.

” The Performance Challenge Fund won by the local government shall be used for various high impact programs and projects to further advance the development of the municipality.

In a letter addressed to Mayor Loyola, Ms. Josefina E. Castilla-Go, DILG Regional Director congratulated the local government for their exemplary achievement which indicates the high degree of commitment and dedication in achieving the goal to become one of the best municipalities not only in Region IV-A, but also in the whole country.

Likewise, Castilla-Go said award “really deserved all the admiration, commendations, success and accolades. As your partners in local governance, we are honored for this great success and indeed, this achievement of being the Best Performing Municipality in the country will make a lasting impact to your municipality and to your constituents as well.

” The Gawad Pamana ng Lahi (GPL) is an award concept given by the DILG to provinces, cities, and municipalities who exhibited exemplary performance in administrative, environmental, social, and economic governance.
