Bacolod City gets P3 million for ‘good housekeeping'March 6, 2013

BACOLOD CITY, March 6 (PIA6) -- Bacolod City received a P3 million check from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as cash incentive from the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) for getting a Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH).

A statement from the Bacolod Public Information Office said the check was given to Mayor Evelio Leonardia by DILG Bacolod OIC Clyne Deocampo in the presence of Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and Councilor Em Ang during the recent City Peace and Order Council meeting.

Deocampo said the PCF is an incentive given to Local Government Units (LGUs) that are performing and complying with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP), a reform on transparency and accountability introduced by the late Secretary Jesse Robredo and sustained by Secretary Mar Roxas.

“We’re glad that our compliance with FDP in the form of posting our financial documents in three conspicuous places and in our official city website has earned as the Seal of Good Housekeeping and then a P3 million incentive from the Performance Challenge Fund,” Leonardia said.

“We’re posting our financial documents in two bulletin boards at the Government Center and another one at the City Hall so that ordinary Bacolodnons may gain access to said documents,” Leonardia added.

A SGH recognizes an LGU with good performance in internal housekeeping, particularly in local legislation; planning, resource generation, allocation and utilization; customer service; and human resource management, and also in valuing the fundamentals of good governance.

Deocampo also said that DILG Region VI Director Evelyn Trompeta commends Bacolod City for compliance with FDP and also expresses her appreciation of its support to DILG programs.

The P3 million cash incentive will be used to finance the LGU share in the construction of a new Youth Development Center (YDC), under a people-public-private partnership program of the city.

The YDC will cater to the needs of children in conflict with the law. (BACOLOD PIO/ PIA6-LOL)
