RHU, Birthing Home Open in San Manuel TownFebruary 18, 2013

SAN MANUEL, Tarlac, Feb.18 (PIA) -- The health conditions of residents in the area
are now assured of with the opening of a rural health unit and a birthing home with
officials from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and municipal
government of San Manuel in attendance. These were built from funds coming the
Performance Challenge Fund (PCF). 

“PCF is conferred to Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) honorees wherein
chosen local government units (LGUs) each receive P7 million (for provinces),
P3 million (for cities) and P1 million (for municipalities) from the national government
which will be utilized for projects supportive to the attainment of the United
Nations Millennium Development Goals such as eradicate extreme poverty and
hunger, achieve universal primary education, reduce child mortality and promote
gender equality” DILG Regional Director Florida Dijan explained. 

San Manuel provided its P1 million counterpart for the construction of such facilities
that is part of the Health Facility Enhancement Program of the Department of Health. 

“SGH is given to LGUs that have excelled in the areas of planning, budgeting, revenue
mobilization, financial management and budget execution, procurement, and
resource mobilization," Dijan explained. 

LGU recipients have also obtained a “no adverse report” from the Commission
on Audit, which means that they have complied with all the requirements of
the government’s auditing agency. (WLB/CLJD-PIA 3)
