DILG earmarks P47-M for 9 CL provinces, citiesJanuary 25, 2013

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional office will release the P47-million third tranche allocation of Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) to nine local government beneficiaries in Central Luzon.

DILG regional director Florida M. Dijan said the beneficiaries are Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Angeles City, Olongapo City, Cabanatuan City, and City of San Fernando.

The PCF is a financial incentive being given to the local government units (LGUs) that won the “Seal of Good Housekeeping” (SGH), a project of the DILG that promotes transparency and full disclosure policy.

As SGH recipients, the LGUs will receive the PCF in the amount of P7 million for provinces and P3 million for cities.
After complying with the required documents of the PCF, the DILG will release the check for the funding of proposed projects aligned with the national government’s program for the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals, tourism and economic development, disaster risk reduction and management and solid waste management, Dijan said.

She said that the PCF may also be used to finance projects such as school buildings, rural health units, water and sanitation system, local roads and bridges, slaughterhouses, flood control, reforestation, post-harvest facilities, cold storage facilities and other programs and projects that would enhance local government services.

She encouraged the LGU representatives to comply with the requirements of the SGH to enable them to continuously avail of the PCF subsidy. ‚óŹ (PNA)
