ZAMBOANGA CITY – Some 36 local government units in Southern Mindanao received a total of P48 million representing as Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

In a ceremony, DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo, assisted by DILG Region-12 Director Buagas Sulaik, turned over the checks to the beneficiary local government units (LGUs) during the Tapatan Roadshow on Disaster Preparedness held at convention center in Lagao, General Santos City.

According to Robredo, the 36 highly performing LGUs got their PCF after they were conferred with the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH).

Of the 36 recipient LGUs, 33 were municipalities, two were cities, and a province.

Each of the 33 municipalities received P1 million, the cities of Kidapawan and Cotabato each got P3 million, while the lone recipient province, Sarangani, got P7 million.

The number of municipalities that received the PCF per province include Cotabato – 17, South Cotabato – 10, Sarangani – four, and Sultan Kudarat – four.

“We hope that through the PCF, the beneficiary LGUs will be able to further enhance their performance, and improve their services to their constituents,” Robredo said. (Nonoy E. Lacson)
