DILG and DBM distribute P26M in PCF checks to Bohol mayorsJune 9, 2014

Secretaries Mar Roxas (DILG) and Butch Abad (DBM) today distributed checks representing “incentive funds” for good governance to 26 local government units (LGUs) in the Province of Bohol.

Receiving the checks worth P1 million each are the mayors of Alburquerque, Antequera, Baclayon, Balilihan, Bilar, Buenavista, Calape, Catigbian, Clarin, Corella, Danao, Garcia-Hernandez, Jetafe, Guindulman, Inabanga, Jagna, Lila, Loboc, Loon, Maribojoc, Panglao, Sagbayan, San Miguel, Sevilla, Trinidad and Valencia.

Roxas and Abad turned over the checks to the Bohol mayors before attending the Provincial Congress on Disaster Preparedness of Liga ng mga Barangay – Bohol Chapter at the Bohol Cultural Center.

The distribution of the PCF checks was witnessed by Bohol Provincial Gov. Edgardo M. Chatto and Vice Governor Concepcion O. Lim.

The PCF checks, according to Roxas, can be withdrawn anytime by the recipient LGUs. The amount is part of the P63-million allocation for Region VII under the PCF this year.

“Maaari niyo nang i-encash o i-deposit iyan sa inyong local treasury para magamit sa mga proyekto dito sa Bohol,” Roxas told the mayors.

The DILG chief urged local government officials to use the fund for projects that will best help the province recover from the impact of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that devastated Bohol last year.

“Sa pamamagitan ng incentive fund mula sa PCF, inaasahan ko na magiging mas mabilis ang muling pagtindig ng Bohol at mas marami pa sa ating mga kababayan ang mabibigyan ng mahalagang serbisyo ng ating mga lokal na pamahalaan,” Roxas said.

The LGUs that received the incentive fund from the DILG were earlier conferred Seal of Good Housekeeping program, which qualifies them to receive the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF).

Basically an incentive fund for LGUs that passed good local governance criteria set by the DILG, PCF rewards LGUs additional monies which they can use for various programs and projects to enhance the delivery of basic services and sustain local economic development across the country.

A total of P965 million has been allocated for PCF this year. Under the program, Provincial Governments are entitled to P7 million; cities P3 million and municipalities P1 million.
